Welcome to the Sussex Group of the Hardy Plant Society

Thank you for visiting. Our Group has an active and varied programme, of interest to all gardeners. We are friendly and genuinely welcoming to new members. Benefits of membership include:

Outings to plantsmen’s gardens and specialist nurseries

Relaxed visits in small groups to each other’s gardens (“Talking Plants”)

Opportunities to buy and sell plants propagated by our members

There's a great deal of sharing and learning from each other and a collective enthusiasm for gardening. The meetings end with tea and cakes, made by our members - and you can buy any left-over slices at the end of the meeting to enjoy at home. Above all, we enjoy the friendly sociable atmosphere.

Our Next meeting is on Sunday 25th October at the Henfield Hall, BN5 9BD,

Hannah Fox will talk on ‘Gardening with wild life in mind’.

No need to book, just turn up. Free to Group members, £7pp for guests (refunded if you join at the meeting) - includes talk, tea/coffee & home-made cake, plant stall, & raffle. At this meeting, members may bring a guest friend for free!

Hannah was the main propagator at the excellent Marchants Hardy Plants and managed it for 3 years until it closed in 2024. Now Hannah runs her own ‘micro’ nursery Bright Green Fox from her home. She has grown plants for Gold Medal Show Gardens at Chelsea, Hampton Court and Great Dixter. Hannah also regularly works at Knepp Castle, Great Dixter Nursery, John Little’s Hilldrop and Wakehurst Place.

The hall opens at 1.30pm for the lecture at 2pm.
